AMUR was founded in 2001 and is a registered as a charity in both Russia and the UK.


  • To promote public and political awareness of issues relating to Amur tiger and leopard conservation in Russia
  • To raise funds for the various projects supporting the ongoing work to secure the future of Amur tigers and leopards in the wild

Lord Fairfax visited AMUR supported projects in the Russian Far East during his trans Russian charity motorbike ride – the White Nights Ride.

Sir Roderic Lyne

Former British Ambassador to the Russian Federation.  Sir Roderic helped launch the charity in 2001 and has been an active supporter of our work ever since.

Ilya Lagutenko of Mumiy Troll

Ilya Lagutenko, famous throughout Russia as the lead singer of pop group Mumiy Troll, was born in Vladivostok in Primorski Krai – home to the Amur tiger and leopard so along with his love of wildlife he has a very personal connection to these big cats.
